Caroline Wozniacki’s father considers lawsuit against the writer of an unauthorised biography
No one in tennis star Caroline Wozniacki’s family plans to read ‘Miss Sunshine’, according to her father who has threatened to sue the book’s author.
Piotr Wozniacki is heavily criticised in Kurt Lassen’s unauthorised biography as being a hard-driving, pushy father to Caroline, having pressured her into a life of intense work on the tennis court.
The book, released today, asserts that many sources close to the family expressed their concern for Caroline’s well-being due to her father’s tough agenda.
But the elder Wozniacki told BT newspaper that although neither he nor Caroline planned to read the biography, he had contacted his lawyers and instructed them to read it. If necessary, they would take legal action against Lassen.
The book claims Piotr Wozniacki threatened to have his daughter play for the Polish national team if he could not coach her himself. It also states that his Danish passport has a different name on it – Victor Krason.
Wozniacki, who was born in Poland, admitted he had the Krason name on his Danish passport, but refused to explain why, saying it was ‘a private matter’.
Caroline Wozniacki denied she was pressured into her career by her father and said she had no plans to read the book.
‘I don’t know the guy who wrote it and I haven’t personally contributed to it, so there’s not much to say about it,’ she said.
