FC Copenhagen must now win next week’s return match

FC Copenhagen held its ground last night in its away match against Bate Borisov, coming home with a 0-0 result in the first leg of the teams’ Champions League third qualification round matchup.

While the result may have been a good one for the underdog FCK, the club failed to score against the Belarusians. That means that the Lions will either have to win outright in next week’s return match at the city’s Parken Stadium or win a penalty kick shootout, should the game again finish in a scoreless draw.

Head coach Ståle Solbakken said he was satisfied with his club’s effort but lamented the team blew several scoring opportunities in the second half.

The return match is set for 4 August at Parken.
