Viborg reach Champions League semis

Reigning women’s handball Champions League winners Viborg look ready to defend their title after securing a trip back to the semi-finals last night.

The club won 35-28 over Russian club HC Dinamo in its next-to-last quarterfinal match, clinching second place in the four-team Group B. Cristina Varzaru and Rikke Skov each scored 10 goals to pace Viborg.
The semifinals have more or less been determined, with Viborg joining Romanian club CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea, Norway’s Larvik HK and Hungarian club Győri ETO KC, who would have to lose their last match by 32 goals not to move on to the semi-finals.
Viborg will meet either CS Oltchim or Larvik on 10 April for the first leg of the home and away semi-final match.
