Playing bingo for live animals such as ponies, pigs and ducks becomes a hit. Animal Protection society is appalled

Jens Svenningsen, an inspector with the Animal Protection society, has distanced himself from the new trend spreading in community houses around Jutland, reports Berlingske Tidende newspaper.

‘It’s completely ridiculous and must be stopped,’ Svenningsen told the paper.

’The poor animals are put in cages and tied up in the oddest ways during the bingo game, where people are boisterous and loud. To make animals part of the entertainment in such a way is deeply reprehensible.’

In Herrup, a township in mid-Jutland, one person won a live pony in a game of bingo.

Head of the bingo committee in Herrup, Klaus Hallum, sees nothing problematic in ‘bingo-ing’ live animals.

’The pony didn’t come inside the community venue. It’s on the farm, waiting to be picked up by the winner,’ Hallum said.
