Warmer weather threatens to ruin the country’s chances for its first White Christmas since 1995

While the warmer weather forecast for today and tomorrow has been good news for holiday travellers, it may well spoil the first White Christmas the nation would have had in 14 years.

Streets were already relatively snow and ice free in Copenhagen early Wednesday morning, and temperatures are expected to reach up to 3 degrees today in most areas – and a balmy 5 degrees on the country’s west coast.

The heavy snowfall of the previous week may mean that some snow cover will remain on people’s lawns. Temperatures are again expected to drop below the freezing point during Christmas Eve night, which should postpone the melting process at least until Friday.

Denmark has not had a truly ‘White Christmas’ – where snow covers at least 90 percent of the country – since 1995.
