Managing director resigns from tourism promotion agency responsible for ‘missing baby’ You Tube video

Dorte Kiilerich has quit as managing director of state tourism promotion agency VisitDenmark just days after its controversial YouTube video was yanked from the internet.

The video features ‘Danish Karen’ who is searching for a man she had a one-night-stand with and whom she believes to be the father of ‘baby August’. It was fake but fooled many and had more than a million viewers in four days.

Kiilerich, who described the video as ‘the most effective thing we have ever done to market Denmark,’ resigned today.

Social workers and women's advocates criticised it as being irresponsible and thoughtless.

Although many believe Kiilerich’s departure is related to the video, neither she nor VisitDenmark have commented on the resignation.
