Esbjerg local council is looking into complaints that a sex shop’s window covering violates a town law

A sex shop owner wants to shield the eyes of local town children from his wares, but has been refused by the local council, reports TV2 Syd.

Torben Knudsen owns the Dark Rose shop in Esbjerg, western Jutland, and wanted to screen off his window to prevent kids from seeing the sex toys on display. He covered the windows with frosted glass so only the store logo and description of the shop were showing.

‘I don’t think it would be fair that kids can look in at porn and vibrators in the shop all day long,’ said Knudsen.

But Peter Bagge of the local council said Knudsen has violated district planning laws prohibiting entire shop windows from being covered.

The council investigated the sex shop after receiving a complaint.

The move left Knudsen scratching his head, since he has covered the windows of his two other sex shops located in Holstebro and Vejle without complaint.

There is being open and frank about ones body for the sake of children and there is thrusting adult sexuality right into their faces before they are ready.

It is sad this town council does not understand the difference nor the true meaning of "freedom". Of course the shop keeper can be MORE decorous if he chooses.

And ANOTHER THING, what is with these complaints to the authorities? What a bunch of busy bodies.

In the spirit of "The public sector will eat itself" this is another example of the dangers of Denmarks culture of having overly empowered governments leading to regulations being paramount to common sense.
