City Council to hand out 1200 free microchips to cyclists tomorrow in an effort to curb bike theft
Cyclists who want to secure their mode of transport against theft can go to the University of Copenhagen’s Amager campus tomorrow between 3pm and 8pm and receive a free anti-theft microchip.
Every year, 16,000 bikes are stolen in Copenhagen. The vast majority of them are never found again.
But there’s hope. Cyclists will be able to mount the new microchip on their bike and track it down should it be stolen. The council has invited cyclists in Copenhagen to come to main entrance of the university’s Amager campus in Njalsgade Street. There, cyclists can have a free chip mounted on their bike as long as they register by name, address and email address.
The giveaway is the third such event held by the city this year. In all it plans to give away 5000 chips.
