Sergeant Michael Ebert becomes the 26th soldier to die in combat while serving in Afghanistan

A Danish soldier has been shot and killed while on foot patrol in Southern Afghanistan.

Sergeant Michael Ebert, 23, was flown to a field hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival on Friday.

Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said he regretted the loss of another solider and that Ebert had lost his life protecting Danish security and for the Afghan people’s hope of a better future.

Ebert was the 26th combat casualty since Denmark joined the collation forces in Afghanistan in 2002.
