Investigative reporters blamed for encouraging animal activists to break into mink farms, making the animals sick

The Danish Fur Farmers Association is sending a million kroner bill to the media after an investigative report of mink farms was blamed for vandalism and break-ins at the farms.

The association said that animal activists broke into the mink farms to document animal conditions for investigative TV2 show Operation X as well as Ekstra Bladet newspaper.

Sander Jakobsen of the association said it is possible that they introduced the plasmacytosis illness to the mink and now 100,000 animals will have to be tested at a cost of 1 million kroner.

Both the production company and newspaper have been reported to the police for trespassing.
