European Film Academy chooses Danish star to represent and promote the new wave of European cinema

The European Film Academy (EFA) has appointed Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen as one of its new ambassadors of European film.

The EFA said in a press release that it had chosen a group of distinguished personalities to promote both European films and the EFA awards at various events throughout the year.

Mikkelsen is no stranger to the EFAs, being nominated in 2006 for ‘After the Wedding’, in 2008 for ‘Flame and Citron’ and as a presenter at the Berlin awards in 2007.

The actor joins British director Stephen Daldry and eight other European luminaries from the world of European film as an ambassador.

Mads Mikkelsen has made himself popular because he allows his audience to "access" him.......not in a Hollywood star way, which is revolting, but with style and humility.Congratulations!
