Activists throw Molotov Cocktails

Almost 200 activists have been arrested after skirmishes with the police near Christiania last night

Roadblocks were set ablaze and Molotov cocktails were thrown at the police last night on Prinsessegade.

A total of 194 climate change demonstrators were detained. All but six of the detainees had been released as of early this morning.

Police spokesman Henrik Suhr said detainees were released throughout the night with the last let go at 5.45am this morning.

‘We are holding six of them who have been charged with assaulting an officer of the law,’ Surh said.

‘We were putting out the burning roadblocks on Prinsessegade, outside Christiania. Our people were attacked with Molotov cocktails and withdrew. A few individuals ran out from Christiania and reignited the roadblocks, before witnesses saw them going into the pub, Woodstock. After that, we decided to shut the party down,’ Suhr said.

PC  - what activists?!   |2009-12-15 11:42:49
Activists would be either in the center of town or near the Bela center.

What would they possibly be doing near Christiania for the purpose of spreading their message?

These are just your local bunch of punks living on SU and using excuses to trash the city a bit more. Good thing they have been released already, plenty of untrashed city areas left ...

JoeThePlumber  - 'Activists'? or Terrorists!   |2009-12-16 14:46:45
sounds more like terrorism to me, rather than good spirited activism.

Typical, hiding terrorist acts behind 'doing good' and justifying it by calling them 'Activists'

Vandkanon! Vandkanon!
- 4 degrees today, a nice water cannon shower would cool down the 'activists' for sure! Or, maybe they stayed home and slept in due to the snow. They are on SU anyway, why worry about getting up for 'work'...
