G77 walks out of COP15 meeting

Lumumba Stanislaus Di-AipingTension between developing and developed countries builds as climate summit enters its fifth day

The chief negotiator for 134 developing nations left the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) yesterday in anger.

Lumumba Stanislaus Di-Aping from Sudan, the G77 group’s top negotiator, is also accusing Denmark of driving the climate summit into the ground.

‘Things are not going well,’ he said after walking out from an hour-long negotiation. ‘It’s very problematic that there’s a different agenda running alongside the official UN process,’ Di-Aping told Politiken newspaper.

When asked to elaborate on those comments, he said:

’Your prime minister has chosen to protect the rich countries, and that’s not ok,’ referring to Denmark’s Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

‘If the Copenhagen summit ends in failure, the whole Scandinavian multilateral tradition will be jeopardised. What your prime minister is doing is completely against the spirit of the foreign aid Denmark and the Danish people have given to Africa for so many years,’ said Di-Aping.

The G77 group represents 134 mainly developing countries, including China, Indonesia and Argentina.

COP15 President Connie Hedegaard, Denmark’s former climate minister, has refused to comment on the case.

He came to DK to be loved and found life is the same as at home: "solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short" as Hobbes said.

He's back of course, having demonstrated the value of his English public school upbringing, taken his bat home and then returned with the promise of a cream tea after the game.
peterclarke  - A Non Computer Model About Global Warming   |2009-12-12 20:48:12
The public now knows for certain through a new scientific measurement that the effects of C02 and all greenhouse gases on temperature globally is less than 1/6th of what the UN says it is!

A new paper published just last month by Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT, with his formidable authority behind it and because he did it by straight forward measurement of the comparison between changes in surface temperature and changes in outgoing radiation, and hopefully this should be the one scientific analysis that brings this scare finally to an end.

What is actually happening is that nearly all of it is getting out into space just as before. So the warming effect of C02 over the whole of the next 100 years or more is going to be far below 2 Fahrenheit degrees and it might even be only 1 Fahrenheit degrees. So, now that there is a known actual scientific measurement result, all the previous UN reports are out of date and were further based on computer models and computer models are another word for guesswork and their guesses were wildly implausible.

So, because the facts have changed and there is now a scientific measured result, there should be no argument with it and to date no one has dared to argue with this paper and his scientific analysis, which is not a computer model, by Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT. Why and why has the media not been reporting on this non global warming scientific study????

I am unable to locate a paper published in 2009 regarding the subject mentioned by Richard P. Binzel. Could you provide a full reference and perhaps let us be the judge whether this "straight forward measurement" is as scientifically valuable as you claimed to be?

Also, I would really like to know on what basis are you able to draw conclusions about the computer models as well as the NOW changed facts through an actual scientific measurement result (Whatever that means!). Because obviously, all the UN reports (and related scientists behind them all around the world) are out of date now, right?

The whole damn place should have got up and walked out of this shell game. This is another fascist attempt to control our lives and steal our money.

Dear Sermit a simple Google search will present you with thousands of articles with scientific facts that show to all that care to see how this CO2 warming drama is a scam.

With this scam a market for CO2 was invented to benefit the rich few, even dear Danmark has gotten corrupt fingers on the deal as could be read last week here on this online news. You will get taxed for ridiculous reasons on the basis of this scam.

I specially love the "day without electricity" event to reduce CO2 emissions. Electricity causes CO2 emissions??? In my country half of the production comes from water dams. I am having a really hard time connecting the dots here.

I feel sorry for people that eat whatever the media and the powers that be try to feed them without a critic mind...

The highest hazard to future the world is the global warming. Therefore, it would be the most natural disaster which Earth has never seen by Hundred of Million Years. The Economical Cost to World Economy if nothing to be done to stops the Global Warming can be higher than the Last World Economic Crisis. Might say it would be Incalculable. Thousands of animals species and natural biomas can disappear from earth. The level of Oceans may climb till the end of 21th Century for consequence from thaw of Icecaps . Droughts may affect many regions around the world while floodings may cause destructions in other regions. Perhaps Millions or even Billion people may die from starvation, diseases and wars caused for consequences from Global Warming.

The most of people has ever heard about the negative consequences from Global Warming and what shall happen if nothing be done to decrease it. But, seems that the economical interests, like preserve of winnings is above by interests to save the nature and animal life.

If the goal is to seek solutions to the climate issue, the reality is that the meeting can be a total failure. As a rule, who should give the letters are the richest and most powerful nations

Once again, America is opposing the application of any policy to halt the current process of global warming, which, if not reduced, may be responsible for an environmental disaster.

Obama, as well as some European countries, to preserve the profits of their companies, rejected the adoption of measures to reduce, in fact, harmful to the environment. Thus in Kyoto, when Bush refused to sign the protocol provided for a reduction extremely shy of greenhouse gases.

The reality is that the environmental collapse that lies ahead is the result of their greed for profits at any cost, a system that usurps the sources of natural wealth to privilege the few.

The proposal made by USA and Denmark only perpetuates poverty in Africa and in regions like Latin America and South Asia since the obligation to cut emissions, without any compensation, since they will have to limit its development. Unfortunately, it seems that the interest of certain groups, since this is the logic of exploitation to which these poor nations are subject. Yes, we have to take measures to ensure that global warming is held, but people in poor countries also have the right to develop economically and socially, that is, the rich industrialized nations, along with countries like Brazil and China, is that should pay the bill for global warming.

Brazilian government is demagogy
The Lula government has promised to Copenhagen as a platform to defend what he calls a "bold" reduction of emissions, up to 38%.

But the fund, the Brazilian President will make one of his demagoguery.

Brazil is the fourth largest polluter in the world. The biggest problem is the progress of fires and deforestation, promoted by loggers and
the "heroes" of agribusiness, great allies and funders of the President.

Moreover, Lula has encouraged monoculture, released the GM (I'm not against) and closed his eyes to deforestation in the Amazon and other ecosystems, such as the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. We must remember that the Brazilian government legalized the illegal possession of land in the Amazon, making way for banks and investors in the future to take over large slices of the Forest. All this contributed to environmental deterioration.

I can also perform a google search which will provide me with evidence the world is flat. Doesn't make it true.

If half your country's power comes from hydroelectric dams, that means the other half comes from...? A powerplant that emits co2 perhaps?

I feel sorry for people that don't understand something and then somehow conclude that it must be wrong.
