A visit from the royal representative is hoped to boost Danish exports in the Gulf states region

Crown Prince Frederik is undertaking a week-long trip to the Gulf states of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, where he is leading a green energy business delegation.

He is scheduled to appear as a keynote speaker at the World Future Energy Summit in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, where he will also be joined by the chief executives of DONG Energy and Vestas.

The head of the Danish Trade Council, Jarl Frijs-Madsen said the involvement of the crown prince will benefit Danish exports in the region.

‘The participants in the World Future Energy Summit are especially important for the Danish efforts to export green technology,’ Frijs-Madsen said.

According to figures from the Trade Council, Denmark’s exports to Saudi Arabia were worth 2.1 billion kroner in 2008, while the UAE and Qatar accounted for 2.2 billion kroner and 500 million kroner respectively.

Exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 25 percent in 2009, with a similar increase experienced in Qatar.
