Several hundred businesses shut down in November, setting a new record for bankruptcies in a month

With 599 business closing last month, last December’s record of 596 bankruptcies has been broken.

Geographically, the bankruptcies have mainly struck in the Copenhagen area, while Funen is the area that has experienced the largest increase compared with November last year.

The Faroe Islands and Greenland have also suffered significant increases in comparison to last year, whereas Northern Jutland has remained the same.

The hardest hit industries are the hotel and restaurant trades. A total of 36 businesses within this genre have succumbed, twice as many as the previous November.

The statistics, collected by the analytical firm Experian, also convey that the number of new business has decreased compared to last year.
