A second prestigious restaurant has closed in Copenhagen with multi-million kroner debts reported
One of Copenhagen’s top Michelin-star restaurants located in Kongens Have Park has closed its doors following a troubled financial year.
Co-owner and chef at Restaurant Geranium, Søren Ledet, announced in a press release today that ‘because of disagreement among the owners regarding the company’s current liquidity and procurement of capital I have closed the restaurant’.
The restaurant is run by chefs and friends Søren Ledet and Rasmus Kofoed, who has won bronze and silver in the international culinary competition Bocuse D’Or.The two own 25 percent of the restaurant each, while the other 50 percent is owned by investor Rasmus Nøttrup.
Business.dk reports that the financial report for 2007/2008 showed that the restaurant had a deficit of 1.8 million kroner and debts of 11.6 million kroner.
Geranium is the second Michelin star restaurant to close in recent months after MR filed for bankruptcy in April. However, MR plans to reopen shortly with a new concept, serving only fish and vegetables.
